My Top 10 Movies of All Time

With taking a break from the awards season, I thought it would be fun to let you guys know some of my top ten favorite films of all time. These movies may not be ones that the critics love but they have made an impact on me growing up. All these films have special memories attached to them as my parents showed me most of these movies. There is no special ranking with these but have shaped me into the person I am today.

The first movie in my top ten is My Cousin Vinny. The first time I saw this film was my sophomore year of high school. My civics teacher thought this film was somewhat accurate to a legitimate court case. He was a weird teacher. Nonetheless, I loved the humor and how quotable this was. My mom then showed me the R rated version and I have seen it so many times since then. The amount of times my mom and I quote this movie is ridiculous. The second movie in my top ten is A League of Their Own. I don't really remember the first time I watched this movie but my mom most likely showed it to me and I can't even count how many times I have seen it since. It is a great movie that is partially true with talking about women playing baseball in WWII. Tom Hanks is a riot in this film. It is also another movie my mom and I quote on a daily basis. The third movie in my top ten is My Big Fat Greek Wedding. I am not a huge fan of romantic comedies or romance movies in general but this one is hands down my favorite rom com of all time. My mom showed me this film and just like the other two, it is so quotable. I have showed this movie to my cousins and we quote it whenever we see each other and that is something really special. The fourth movie in my top ten is Mary Poppins. It is my favorite Disney movie of all time. My mom showed this film to me as a child and it has stayed with me all these years. The songs are catchy as ever and it is so quotable. It is a classic story about never losing your inner child in dark times and is relevant today. I also loved the sequel, Mary Poppins Returns, a lot.

The fifth movie in my top ten is School of Rock. I got this as a DVD from Blockbuster and never returned it as I still have it in my DVD collection. In my opinion, this is Jack Black's best film role and to me, nothing will top it. It is a funny movie and every time it is on TV, my mom and I watch it together and as always, quote our favorite lines. The sixth movie on my list is Shawshank Redemption. My dad actually showed this film to me for the first time two years ago and it has become an instant favorite of mine. The story is so iconic and I kicked myself in the butt for waiting so long to see this. It is just a great classic film. The seventh movie in my top ten is Jumanji. This is my favorite movie that Robin Williams starred in for sure. As a kid, this movie scared me and looking back at it now, it is not as scary. It still holds up all these years later and is fantastic. The eighth film on my list is Blazing Saddles. Thanks to my mom, this film introduced me to Mel Brooks and how wonderful he is, as well as his twisted sense of humor. This film is so politically incorrect and if it were made today, it would create so much backlash but it is so hilarious and is my favorite Mel Brooks film. The ninth film on my list is Remember the Titans. The first time I watched this was in fifth grade because my teacher thought it was an important film. What I didn't expect was to love it as much as I do and how inspiring it is. It is a great movie that everyone should see today, even if it is a cheesy Disney movie. The final film on this list is The Princess Bride. The first time I saw this film was at my old friend's house for her birthday almost five years ago. Everyone wasn't really paying attention to it but my eyes were glued to the screen at how engaging the film was. Since then, my mom and I watch it whenever it comes out on TV. Last year, there was an event at a local theater where they were screening the film and my mom and I bought t-shirts just for the film and there was trivia as well. To see everyone quoting this film in one room truly shows the power of movies and is something I will never forget.

These are my top ten movies of all time. Condensing it down to ten was hard but all these films mean a lot to me. What are some of your favorite movies of all time? Are some of your favorites on my list or are there some that I have not seen? I would be interested to know.
